The world is changing for the better. I promise you it is.
These changes are slow. They may seem trivial... at times. But even the smallest grain of sand... is still a grain of sand. And when you pile enough of those bad boys together... you've got yourself a mighty-nice beach.
Change is change, no matter how small the shift may be. Positivity is positivity, no matter how much negativity surrounds it. And making a difference is making a difference... it always matters to someone, somewhere.
Knowing these things, I choose to believe that the world is changing for the better.
It may not always seem that way. I certainly have a hard time believing it, with all the suffering I witness each day.
But I have to believe that things can change. That they will change. And that they already are changing.
I have to believe.
Because that hope is all I have most days.
How do I remain hopeful? Why do I believe?
I'm hopeful... because you're all here, reading this. I believe... because you'll each go out into the world... and do something about it.
So, how is the world changing? Or better yet, how will it change even more?
Well... it will change with me. It will change with you. It will change... with us.
And without us... it won't.
The suffering won't end, until we end it.
The killing won't stop, until we stop it.
The laws won't change, until we change them.
The tables won't turn, until we turn them.
The lives won't be saved... until we save them.
The world needs you. I need you. They need you.
Every giving act changes the world for the better. If you volunteer, you change the world. If you foster, you change the world. If you adopt, donate, transport, or advocate, you change the world.
If you wait for the right time to start, it'll never come. If you wish you could do more, you can... today. If you think you've never made a difference, change that.
A few caring people are already changing the world for the better. Join us.
Beautifully put! THANK YOU Ashley for making a difference and encouraging others to do the same. Baby steps are better than no steps at all. We are their voice and we must speak LOUDLY!
ReplyDeleteYou are a hero! I don't know if there is a God, but if there is, you'll never loser his favor.
ReplyDeleteI squeezed reading this post in right as I'm about to walk out the door to go volunteer (as I do daily) at my local dog shelter. Another grain of sand! ;)
ReplyDeleteHow do you manage to look so fantastic when you're working with the dogs all day?! When I worked at a kennel I looked terrible every day :P
ReplyDeleteJust stumbled across your blog...and it's giving me that extra shove to get back into rescue again!
ReplyDeleteThank you for being WONDERFUL.
ReplyDelete2 weeks ago I rescued a sweet stray cat off the street during a 100+ degree heat wave.
Like you said, lives won't be saved until we save them.

The grain of sand is your thought...The beach is your heart...The results are as vast as the ocean that is 70% of the earth. God doe's exist we are a tiny cell of the body of Christ and For every single person out there that gives of themselves for any cause you will be rewarded beyond imagination. I cant imagine this world without all of you in it! God bless you all.
ReplyDeleteThank you after reading this I feel better.Your right. We all make a difference. What kind of difference do you want to make?
ReplyDeleteI adore how you sit smack dab in the middle of the dirt in your summer dresses!
ReplyDeleteI do that all the time and most people can't believe it. "You are getting all dirty. You'll ruin your dress!"
My response, "I have a washing machine, THIS is much more important than a little dust on my dress."
What wonderful words! May have to borrow a few for myself. Thanks for all you do!
ReplyDeleteYou have a way with words :) Thank you!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Ashley! You have inspired me more than words can say! Thank You!! Deanna
ReplyDeleteAshley,
ReplyDeleteThank you for being you, and always showing how it can be done and I do know that if we Believe we can change the world. You are an inspiration for me and so many others. I keep you in my daily prayers. Thank you.
Jennifer
Sooo adorable!
ReplyDeleteAshley, just wanted to let you know.. If you ever start thinking you arent making a difference, think about this. I've always been a dog lover, but because of your blog, and your dedication, I've decided to follow my passion, and just took a kennel manager position. I plan on going to school next year to get my vet tech license, and hope that some day I'll be able to own my own kennel/rescue like you, or manage a shelter. Also, with my new job schedule I'll finally have the time to get my Pit/Mastiff mix certified to go out and educate the community! I am so happy that you reminded me of my passion. I got sidetracked there for awhile with college and stuff, and I'm thrilled to get back on track. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteAshley, You are just what I needed today... I am doing a phone interview at 1:30pm central to re-interview for my job. I help people everyday in my job make a better life for them and their families. And in the last few months have learned about Pet Pardons and I Advocate daily. To my disappointment I have been told by my friends and family I make them to sad with all my post so they hide me on FB.I sent you a message and since then you remind me every day why I take the time to click on the Share Button and help make a difference,Thank you My Dear Friend. I will pay your words FORWARD!!!
