Some preach. Some dance. Some sing.
I write.
When it hurts... I write.
When it's good... I write.
When I think... I write.
When I wish... I write.
I write... because it's what I do.
I'm a writer.
I rescue.
Some fight. Some research. Some cure.
I rescue.
When I see despair... I rescue.
When I feel pain... I rescue.
When I encounter suffering... I rescue.
When I witness injustice... I rescue.
I rescue... because it's what I do.
I'm a rescuer.
Who are you?
Does the "who" in you match the "what" in your actions?
Are you the "you" that you want to be?
Each day, I do the things that make me... "me."
And so... I'm me.
That's something no one else can be.
Are you "you?"
If not... what are you waiting for??
No one else can do it for you.
There's only one you.
Be you. Do you. Live you.
Become you today.
Ashely, you always know the perfect thing to say right at the perfect time I need to hear it. I really needed to hear this today. You have no idea. Thank you for being true to yourself and for sharing your wisdom with the rest of us. We often don't realize we need to hear something until we hear it. That's when we have our "Ah-hah!" moments in life. Thanks, doll.
ReplyDeleteI just want you to know how amazing you are!!! Thanks for being you and for making a difference. You have made me a better person. xoxox
ReplyDeleteCindi, I adore you, and thank you for always making me feel so good about my posts. My heart needed to hear your comment today :) Thank you.
ReplyDeleteAshley,
ReplyDeletePerfect! I sooo needed to hear your words today too! You have inspired me beyond words today and always with your wonderful work. It was truly just what I needed to hear. Keep up your wonderful "words of wisdom" and inspiring us.:)
Jen- Oops I didn't see your comment there before! You just made me smile so big!!!
ReplyDeleteKathy, I am so touched that this reached you when you needed to hear it. Love you!
I adore you, too, Ashley. I know we haven't "known" each other for very long, but you have left an imprint on my life for which I will always be grateful. We are essentially strangers, yet I feel like I've known you for a lifetime. Your words of wisdom have changed how I see myself, how I see what I am capable of, and how I see the difference one human being can make in this world. I hope you can fully grasp how powerful of a gift that is and how you bestow that upon people every single day. Using your powers for good. I like it. ;) You said above that you rescue. I think that often goes beyond being a rescuer of the four legged variety. Sometimes, the two legged variety need a little rescue as well. hehehe. Thank you, Ashley.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Very Inspiring :)
ReplyDeleteYOUR words kicked me in the butt and showed me just who I need to be. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteWell said. As always. I don't run a rescue. I do foster and rescue the occasional feral or stray cat. However... I've had two people contact me about Pits in need of help... and a stray cat in need, too. It kills me that I think I can't do more for these animals that need help. I've contacted every rescue I can think of. I've emptied my bank account having feral cats combo tested, fixed, and rabies vaccinated. EVERYTHING around this area is full. It sucks. Thank you for everything you do. Thank you for taking that extra step to give these animals a place. Thank goodness someone can. Now... if only there were about 1 million of you.
ReplyDeleteCindi,
ReplyDeleteMOST TOUCHING COMMENT EVER.
I love you,
Ash
P.S. Meant to say that I've had two people contact me about two different Pits and another contact me about a stray cat in the last week. I wish I could do more. I do what I can... but sometimes it doesn't seem like enough.
ReplyDeletelove it
ReplyDeleteI just saw Emily's comments. You do SO much. Do not ever take that away from yourself. If we had more people like you, the world would be a different place.
ReplyDeleteLove, love, LOVE you, Ashley. :) xoxo
ReplyDeleteAw, love you, Ash. And to think, we're just strangers with a common bond. <3
ReplyDeleteAshley- I LOVE reading your posts! Usually they make me cry, but they always leave me inspired. Not only are you a wonderful person for all you do, you're a great writer. Keep up the great work and never stop writng. The rest of us need your inspiration.
ReplyDeleteThank you for being you!
Every day I try to move closer toward being the "me" I want to be. A lot of obstacles are in my way, and it's easy to become discouraged. I appreciate inspiring blog posts such as this, along with the support of my family & friends, & the small steps that take me nearer to my dream all the time. All I really want to say to you all is to NEVER give up. It might not all happen at once. You'll never see where you might end up if you quit before you arrive.
ReplyDeleteAshley - When you put "pen to paper" you make me feel part of a larger group of humans who care about those who cannot speak for themselves. I oftentimes feel alone, fighting a force without a weapon - just my heart, my soul and my tears. My heart frequently breaks, my soul becomes pained, and my tears make me weak in the eyes of so many when I cry for those without a voice. While I cannot rescue as many as I would like, just knowing about people like you makes me feel a part of something much, much bigger. Thank you . . .
ReplyDeleteAshley, I am growing to LOVE you MORE each and everyday. Sometimes you write about the sad stories that need to be told so that we all wake up and do something for the ones that have no human voice to speak up for themselfs. And I loved it that day when you said if you dont like what I write about UNLIKE me. But saving 5000 animals in 6months is well worth any unlike's You might get. Just keep telling their Stories,We are here to share and share and share all over the USA. You never know it could have been you (the people that share)that helped save that animals life because you shared it.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ashley, Love you too!
ReplyDeleteYou make this world a much better place to live. What a fantasic mentor you are for so many of us who have the passion and desire to help animals. Sometimes rescuing (at least in my area)seems like you can never make a difference...BUT I truly believe we are, thanks to sweet souls like you! As said before, keep your wonderful words coming! We will all be waiting....:) Love you!
awesome post! You have inspired me to do something rather than sit here and think about what I want to do. I'm going to do it. Thank you.
