Stealing Wonder's Wonder

This is what BSL destroys.

On January 27, 2011, Wonder was scheduled to die in a Dallas, North Carolina shelter. That was the day I saved her life.

From the moment I saw her shelter photo on Pet Pardons, I knew what I had to do. Her heart was broken... and so was mine. So I saved her.

Soon thereafter, Wonder was transported to Mississippi to live with me. The day she arrived was one of the best days of my life. It was also the day that Wonder became the unofficial Pet Pardons mascot... as thousands of people, from around the globe, cheered upon her arrival.

The world united for Wonder, and you all watched... as I made her wish come true. That day, in each of our hearts, a special hope was born... knowing that Wonder would never again have to feel that heartbreaking pain she'd experienced all of her life.

That was on January 27, 2011.

But here we are 8 months later... on the day that hope died.

Let me explain...
Wonder was a severely broken girl with a heart of gold. As she began to heal with me... I watched her spirit come to life. And that's when I got to meet... my Wonder.

For me, Wonder represents what it means to be alive. Each day, Wonder lives with an appreciation for everything in this world... with an innocence that makes me cry, a joy that makes me smile, and a curiosity that makes me laugh. She has this indescribable love flowing from her heart, unimaginable forgiveness pouring from her soul, and immense gratitude shining through her eyes.

For me... Wonder is life

On my weakest days, Wonder gave me strength. On my saddest days, Wonder made me laugh. On my exhausted days, Wonder gave me energy. Her energy is contagious. Her love is infectious. Her spirit... it will take your breath away.

Experiencing her love, I wanted more than anything to give Wonder the family she deserved. She was special... extra-special... and she deserved an extra-special future.

Then, a couple of months later, a friend of mine, Anna, decided to participate in my Weekend Foster Program. I asked, "Could you foster Wonder?" She said, "Yes, yes, YES!"

They had an incredible weekend, and Anna cried when she brought Wonder back to me on Sunday. That's when Anna said: "Ash, I'd like to adopt Wonder one day soon."

I smiled; I laughed; I cried. Are you serious?! Really?! My Wonder?!?! It was just too good to be true. Anna and Wonder were absolutely perfect for each other. They're both super-fun, hilarious, outgoing, high-energy, happy-go-lucky girls, with a serious cuteness to match. I couldn't wait for that day to come.

And finally... it was here. Wonder was going home. That day, she was so excited to see Anna that she jumped right on-top of my desk. We laughed, we cried, and then, we said goodbye. It was heart wrenching. It was heartwarming. It was everything to me.

After her adoption, Wonder and I still saw each other all the time. We had several special playdates together, and Anna sent pictures and videos of her every week. She was the happiest I'd ever seen her. It was truly Wonder-ful.

On the days when I wanted to quit, a special Wonder-text from Anna would keep me going. On my best days, Wonder's story played like a movie in my mind. Honestly, her story is the epitome of what I do... and why I do it. For me, Wonder represents more than just life. Wonder's story gives me hope.

Well... welcome to the day... hope died.

This week, I found out that Wonder will be returning to me. Not because it didn't work out. Not because Anna doesn't love her. Not because she isn't wanted.

Wonder is coming back to me because of Breed Specific Legislation (BSL). In an instant, BSL will take away everything I worked so hard to give to Wonder... the family, the home, and the love. BSL will steal Wonder's future. BSL will crush Wonder's dreams. BSL will shatter the hope I fought to give her.

BSL will steal the "wonder" from Wonder.

It's so difficult to explain how I'm feeling right now. I'm angry. I'm livid. I'm heartbroken. I'm devastated. But that's nothing compared to what Wonder will soon feel. She will not understand this...

Each day, she'll wait for Anna to come back for her. With each look, she'll beg me to take her home. And each night, she'll cry herself to sleep... thinking she did something wrong.

I'll have to witness that pain, of a mended heart re-broken. I'll have to say I'm sorry, for things I didn't do. I'll have to watch her wait, for a mom who won't return...

When Wonder sits by the window, she'll be hoping to see Anna. When she stares into the distance, she'll be watching out for her. When any car pulls up, she'll be certain it's her family. When we head out the door, she'll think that's where we're going. And when Wonder dreams at night, she'll be dreaming she's back home...

Every minute, Wonder will wonder about Anna. So how am I supposed to tell her... that she's never coming back??

BSL stole my Wonder's wonder.
She can never go home again...

  4. I cannot hold back the tears after reading this ...HOW DARE THAY DO THIS TO WONDER AND OTHER DOGS!!!!!!!! It's not the BREED it's the owners!!! Ignorant , selfish, arrogant , greedy ppl who fight them and train them to kill or be killed....The comfort in reading this is that YOU will love Wonder as she needs to be loved, YOU will give to her all that Anna did and ore until her forever family comes to get her...My hopes and prayers are with you and wonder.

  5. Where does Anna live? I would not live there and move heaven and earth to move out. My heart goes out to Anna and Wonder and pray that someday soon they will again be a family.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Damn the law - give the dog back to Anna. Anyone comes to take my pet - they're going to have to be able to live on a lead diet.

    ReplyDelete
  7. It sucks that because of creeps who use these dogs to fight make it hard for everyone else to have a great pet.

    Heartbreaking heartbraking heartbraking :(
I realy realy hope something, just a little good comes out for this cutie, no one deserves this threatment at all. Shame on them.

    that should be put down

  10. I love the photos of Beautiful wonder.... but really hate those damn BSL laws! It is crazy and i wonder when it will finally stop.... I would not be able to give up my dog, no matter what... my pets are my children... i am criticized for that... but they are... and my days and life would be nothing much with out them. I would have a fight on my hands if someone didn't like the breed of "child" i had.

  11. how sad this is. what is bsl? all the dog wonder wanted is to be loved and played with. someone give a chance at heart to have a family. :(

    ReplyDelete
  12. really cute story and great pictures!

    ReplyDelete
  13. UGH! So so sad! Unfortunately thanks to the jerks that have given this breed a bad name, they all suffer. It has made people ignorant! I wish her a loving home in her near future!

    ReplyDelete
  14. This is heartbreaking, and outrageous.....BSL such ignorance.

    ReplyDelete
  15. that mad me angry and made me cry what can i do to help please

    ReplyDelete
  16. Absolutely, it is not the breed, it is the owners! We have two pitties (pit bulls)we rescued when they were skinny, malnourished puppies. Now they are 2 years old and healthy and happy. We have raised Rotties into old age. They were great! What idiot state or county does Wonder/Anna live in. I would move and not give Wonder away.

    ReplyDelete
  17. This so stupid, as always people punish the animal not the person that did wrong. It is the people that make these dogs mean or fight not the dog. These dogs can be the most loving sweet dogs on earth, how can they be blamed?? This law needs to be repealed now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  18. I believe breed specific laws are illegal, can't remember where I read this but check no-kill nation

    ReplyDelete
  19. I feel so bad for Wonder and other dogs like her. It breaks my heart that she couldn't stay with Anna because of this stupid BSL bull crap. I swear, some people are so dumb, not to mention heartless! I pray Wonder finds the forever home and the love she deserves. Thank God she at least has you! God bless you for all you do.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Is this the legislation that says all pitties are untrustworthy killers?? Every one I have known has been a sweetheart, because they were raised in loving homes. I went to the county dog shelter in Phoenix looking to find a pal for my dog. The place was ripping at the seams with pitbulls and it absolutely broke my heart. I wanted to take everyone of them home with me! That BSL is BS as far as I'm concerned! Not all of ANY breed is awful! Sometimes a select few ruin it for all the rest. They all deserve a chance!

    ReplyDelete
  21. there must be something that good people can do to stop this horrible turn of events with these beautiful animals..? something that we all need to make a petition or something...this so sad and so horrible what these mean people are doing. people need to unite on this and do something about this breed specific legislation...crap...!!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Breed Specific Legislation/BSL IS WHAT NEEDS TO DIE!!! NOTHING less will do! It is not the fault of these forgiving dogs whose harm or hope lies with us.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Shame on BSL who gives them the right to say if one dog is mean that one is not...wonder deserves a home...where does Anna live i would move.. I know thats easy for alot of us to say this legislations needs to be banned..down with bsl

    ReplyDelete
  24. If the law was adopted after Wonder was adopted, she should be able to grandfathered in or something. That, or I would start looking for a new place for Anna to live.

    ReplyDelete
  25. is there any way 2 stop the idiots from keeping this BS LAW on the books??? i would sign any petion that is against this "LAW" it is a stupid crazy law that was made up by idiots!!!! i hope wonder and anna can somehow-someway be back together again GOOD LUCK WONDER!!! somehow-someday WE WILL DEFEAT THIS BS SO-CALLED LAW!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  26. But if you had to find the silver lining in all of this??? Wonder is coming back to you and not to a high kill shelter. Could Anna Move???

    ReplyDelete
  27. Okay guys.. to those who said, "cute story" or "aw how sweet"... seriously?? Please read the entire story before you comment. This is a very serious, upsetting post that should make you ANGRY. TO say, "Yay!" about this dog being ripped from her home shows that you didn't read at all.

    ReplyDelete
  28. We have BSL here in the town where we live. It is a terrible law and so unfair to the pit bulls. We had a pit bull and we had to give her to my grandson to keep because we were not allowed to keep her here with us. You could not have asked for a better, more loving, and sweet girl like her. I have 3 cats who loved her also. I have had dogs all of my life, but never one so loving and well behaved as her. These dogs are born to love and be loved not to be outlawed for what breed they are.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I'm so sorry, this just broke my heart

    ReplyDelete
  30. Where does Anna live? And what penalty is there for not going along with the BSL?..... I feel the same about what wonder must feel? As if she did something wrong? Humans are responsible for this. I will help anyway I can. I live in NC Colleen Byrd... keep me posted on her. Ashley I believe in your purpose and would love to visit ur facility in the near future. I'm thankful wonder was saved. I also know many hearts are breaking.

    ReplyDelete
  31. That made me angry and I cried what nerve they have it has nothing to do with Wonder like thet say it is the owner DAM them I would give her back to Anna and like the one person said they would be seeing the end of a barrel if they tried to take my Dog Pit Bulls can be just as loving BSL is ignorant they have no right as for as i am concerned Wished I could take her I have a cat don't know if it would work out.

    ReplyDelete
  32. i cried when i read the ending. I have a year old pit and i love him to death. i'd get hurt before i let bsl take him away from me. Pits have a bad rep. because of the people that made the dogs that way. They are all good and nothing bad. I love animals and believe it's not the breed that has the problem. It's the person.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I this is sad...Wonder had a good home, and now this...it should be illegal to do this..discriminate against a breed..if it were people it would not happen...but it is ok to discriminate against a breed ...it is the owners who hurt the dogs and make them fight etc..not the dogs..the dogs want love and attention...it angers me and it makes me cry, because Wonder got a new home..and now she cannot be there because of a stupid law that discriminates against her. This dog gave love and a relationship grew...I feel so bad for your friend, she has to be so heartbroken..I know my animals are my life and if I had to give up one it would break my heart. If I were Anna...I would try to find a new place to live as one person posted..I will be praying that Anna can get to keep Wonder after all for a miracle to occur for the two of them to be happy together, it seems like such a perfect match.

    ReplyDelete
  34. BSL should just go and study all the ones that they want to take and see if its necessary. With Wonder &Anna, they belong together. They are family to each other. BSL...LET WONDER STAY!!

    ReplyDelete
  35. how sad for Wonder. how lucky that you can take her back so that she's not dumped in a shelter yet again. BSL is such a disservice to so many good, kind, loving dogs but try telling that to the HSUS and other organizations that lobby for the legislation. i'm sorry Wonder. i hope you find a way to be reunited with Anna.

    ReplyDelete
  36. can't they list her as a boxer mix? just a thought.

    ReplyDelete
  37. this has made me angry,so angry i feel as the need to protest against and to show what is right, this will not go unheard!BSL only cares about money not a animals needs if they ever decided to take my sundae away(my cat)i would put a stop to it no matter what,BSL are a bunch of cruel bastards(pardon my language)it just makes me UGH! people like this should have the same treatment, they should have their dreams tooken away and they should be tooken away from their happy places and such.I shall make a protest against BSL even if it means going to where they are and making them stop!

    ReplyDelete
  38. All dogs are good dogs. Same for cats.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I hope that Wonder's stay with you becomes a brief "vacation," and that Anna can find a more progressive place to live with this wonderful dog.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I am sorry to hear of this,it is sad and devastating. What is the matter with humans, they destroy everything they cannot understand or feel is wrong. I am crying as I am typing this, because I would love to own another dog. I do not have a fenced in yard, cannot afford one or a dog at this time. You see,I lost my best friend 7 years ago,my dog BEAR to a disease that had no cure when I lived in Arizona. Had I known of the disease when I lived there for 4 years,I would not have gone there. I hate that state and will never live there again as long as I live. I adopted 2 cats from the Humane Society where I live in Illinois. I would like to also have a dog in the near future. Do to economic restraints,I just do not have the means to feed the dog,but definitely love and give it affection and attention. I had two cats that died, they lived to be 20 and 22 years old. I pamper and spoil all my animals, just like I do my son. I will pray for Wonder and other animals,I ask that other animal lover's pray too. The Lord blessed us with beautiful, giving, loving creatures/animals,we should treat them with the utmost care, love them unconditionally like they do us. I have always said since I was a child and still do "I like animals more than people",they do not cause you pain and suffering like people do,unless they are taught that behavior. You may agree or disagree, you are entitled to your opinion. But,I am sticking with mine, because I am 46 years of age and have never been without a pet(s)in my life. My son is my world and so are my animals. They help me survive in the world, bring me joy and peace of mind. My son and my animals are the best things in my life. I would be lost without them.

  41. It isn't the breed, it is the evil, saddistic human that causes this kind of legislation! We have that same legeslation here where I live and it is stupidity in motion because some redneck, illiterate, small minded individuals think it is fun to fight dogs. This story has me crying for Wonder and Anna and angry as hell to the legislature for not seeing past the nose on their faces!

    ReplyDelete
  42. i am so sorry for what you and wonder are going through , as least wonder has you to take care of her and together you guys will get through this. prayers for both of you :)

    ReplyDelete
  43. Ashley, this is truly horrible. I am so sorry for Anna, for you, and especially for Wonder. I don' know what to say, knowing that my words will not change anything. I am praying for all of you. What can people do that want to help out? I can't adopt Wonder, I already have two sweet babies of my own. I hate wasting a post without offering to do something, but I wanted you to know that I share your frustration and that I hope this sweet, loving, dog finds a home. Thank you for all you do. You are an inspiration.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Ashley, can we chip in to help pay for insurance so Anna can keep Wonder? Can we chip in to help Anna move somewhere that doesn't have BSL so Anna and Wonder can stay together? Drastic times call for drastic measures! There must be SOMETHING we can do as a group of concerned, dog loving citizens!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Politicians are so stupid. It's so typical of them to try to solve micro problems with blanket macro solutions that often aren't relevant to the real problems. No specific dog or breed of dog is to blame, bad owners are. This is so wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  46. This is a beautiful animal that loves and is loved. She was happy and healthy in her new home. Isn't that the goal . . . to get these animals out of horrible abusive and/or neglectful environments and into healthy, loving ones? She had it all and it was taken away by words printed on a page. That's wrong! WRONG! WRONG! WRONG!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Is there anyway that a vet can say she is part a different breed - we have that legislation here in ontario however if the dog is 51% another breed then it is legal - it just needs to be muzzled in public and cannot go to off leash parks. Is there anyway Wonder can stay with Anna??? I feel soooo horrible for wonder :(:( I hate this damn legislation it makes me soooooo mad!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Gawds, I'm crying again. Wonder has totally stolen my heart Ashley. I wish things were different, people were kinder and life was fair. I wish Wonder had gotten her Happily Ever After. I wish...*sigh* I just wish this wasn't even an issue. I am so so sad.

  50. Anonymous@ 7:48pm.... Maybe you should read the ENTIRE article....

    ReplyDelete
  51. Ok. First why aren't the existing dogs being grandfathered in. Then second, Protest, Protest, protest and the protest some more and make all the news outlets aware of this issue. My animals are my children, they can arrest me and I will still keep my children. I had them before and stupid arbitrary law that someone made up. Why aren't people getting together to protest this they have rights too.

    ReplyDelete
  52. very sad! They would have to put up one hell of a fight to take my dogs away from me due to their breed. This is so frustrating! The dog just wants to be loved and part of a family and it blows my mind that someone has the right to take that away from them...ughhhh

    ReplyDelete
  53. Don't they just have to have a certain level of house insurance? At least, in ohio we checked the laws and the insurance is about 14. A month.

    ReplyDelete
  54. This story is heart wrenching. Wish I could adopt her. I own a pit bull and have never owned a better pet. I live in fear that the BSL could happen where I live. Guess I would be moving.....

    ReplyDelete
  55. Just a thought but she looks like a mix with an Argentine Dogo which is a Mastiff. Is she's a mix does the law still apply? I know you can get those kits that tell what breed your dog is for around 60 or 70 dollars. Just a thought if you could prove she isn't a pit bull. That being said, I have a wonderful pit and I think these laws are horrbile, but if we could find a way to prove she isn't a full blooded pit would it help?

    ReplyDelete
  56. Has wonder been DNA tested? Many dogs that look just like pitties have many other breeds in them as well. Just a thought to get around this worthless bullshit.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I can't stop crying ! I love photos and story but feel so sad. I will hope and pray someone will save her and give her loving home.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Did you know that even dachshunds were hated and killed after WWI and again in WWII for the breed's association with Germany? The fear caused doxie owners to quickly refer to them as "Liberty Dogs" to ensure their patriotism and to protect their beloved buddies. It was stupid then and it's stupid now. BSL and breed hate is RACISM. Why are we allowing it??? We have to continue to educate people. In the past, the media has contributed in tainting any given breed, and often concerned groups turn to the media again to make it right. We need artists, volunteers, and media leaders to get more involved to spread the word. Everyone can do something. Thanks for all you do!

    ReplyDelete
  59. I cant believe they could do this...:'( how could they take Wonder away from her family?? This breaks my heart...they need 2 blame the owners...not those precious dogs...its not their fault...this is just messed up...4 lack of other words I could use...sendin healin hugs 4 Wonder, and everyone who loves her...her family...

    ReplyDelete
  60. I just cried. That is so wrong. Pits are great dogs. It is not fair. If I were Anacin would keep my dog and fight the law.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I had a red nose pitbull he was and always will be the love of my life and always be part of our family. He was 8 months old when I got him. He was raised by a yellow labrador. He is so loving when I was sad he would give me hugs and kisses. When my house got foreclosed. I couldnt take him to live with us pitbulls were not allowed. The sad part where I live I see so many pits. My heart breaks everyday because I cant see him. Ever since he left our family Im so depressed. I piece of my heart died. Im not the same anymore. I havent seen him 8 months. He is 3 yrs old. I will love him till the day I die. Im crying as Im writing this. They are so sweet loving want to please their owners. Pitbulls get bad repuatation the way they are brought up. The owners are at fault. I will get another one again.

    ReplyDelete
  62. How did they even find out about her? Why doesn't Anna move from there? I would as soon as I could. More people need to take a serious stand against this. It is truly Unconstitutional. It is discriminatory, you can't condemn an entire breed. It is so stupid.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Just a quick comment to Anonymous in regards to the DNA test kits. From what I understand they can pretty much pinpoint which breeds are present in your pet, but they cannot pinpoint the DNA of a Pit Bull and therefor cannot exclude Pit Bull Terriers as one of the breeds or the only breed present in a dog. I believe that where there is BSL legislation, that any "expert" can identify an animal as being a Pit Bull just on the merits of their appearance, body type, etc. Where I live, if a dog is even part Pit Bull we have to pay an enormous yearly registration fee and carry heavy duty insurance. The dogs aren't allowed to be out in public without a muzzle and a leash, so no off-leash socialization and it's gone so far that your dog has to be restrained in your OWN YARD so that it cannot be within 3 feet of your own fence. And that is even if the dog is only part Pit Bull or if they have Staffordshire Terrier. It just goes too far, I have never owned a Pit Bull but I would if it wasn't so unfair to them here. I'm sure that it will be no time at all before all of us up here in my province will be looking at having to find homes for our dogs. We can all thank the Michael Vicks of the world for making this an ugly reality for all Pit Bulls or crossbreeds.

    ReplyDelete
  64. This is absolutely heart breaking :( In the town I live in, Pit Bulls aren't allowed w/ in the city limits, and they're working towards the same laws for Rottie's and Dobbie's and German Shephards. It's cruel. These animals are some of the greatest protectors to their forever families, and it's sad to know they won't have that opportunity in an increasing number of areas as time wears on. I have 2 Great Pyrenees myself, and if someone comes in my house unwanted, they'll attack. Does that make them mean? NO! They are 2 of the most gentle 100-pound animals I have ever seen in my life. But you don't see a ban going out for their breed! BSL needs to be stopped before it ends up being a federal law!

  66. This is so sad and so wrong and unfair!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  67. This is so unfair, people make dogs mean, they are not born that way. With what breed will this law stop? It sounds like it is open ended, to be added to. This story makes me cry for Anna and especially Wonder, who can never understand why her special person is no longer with her. This story makes me angry that irresponsible, "owners", and criminals have made it possible for laws to dictate what breed of dog I can have for my companion. Punish the people that treat this and other breeds with cruelty and irresponsibility, not the dogs. Sorry for the person that comes to take my pet from me, I'm a peaceful person, but that would bring out my fighting side. Wonder, I pray for you, and I'm so sorry that humans, that are supposed to have higher intellegence have done this to you. There is no excuse for dog fighting, as Michael Vick tried to justify, his growing up poor and living in a poor neighborhood, give me a break, that argument just doesn't hold water. Lots of us grew up poor and in poor economic neighborhoods, and we didn't participate in this dispicable treatment of living breathing creatures. Hold people responsible, make animal abuse a felony, with manditory jail time, and get involved, if you know of a person committing this type of crime, open your mouth, turn them in to authorities so they can be caught and prosecuted, vote for stricter animal cruelty laws, and maybe with time, these breeds will be seen in the light they should be in as loving companions.

  68. Can't Anna move to where they allow dogs like Wonder? I would do anything for my pet, if that means moving, of course if I'm able to move, I would do what I could to keep my pet. I hope Wonder finds a good home and a good town that allows pit Bulls. It's aweful that Wonder had a home and now she's back to square one.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I don't think you can say you would move if you were Anna, we can't all just up & move (financially, etc.) but we can all protest the BSL and we can all post or share Wonder? Or foster or adopt Wonder??

I am sharing Wonder's story on my fb page now. Ashley, I'm so so beyond sorry for your heartbreak. And Anna's and Wonder's. Her pictures are absolutely amazing, her joy thanks to you is beautiful to see. I'm so sorry.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I HATE this law and my heart is BREAKING for Wonder. I am sorry to ask this, as I do not want to add to your hurt, but in the spirit of preventing this from happening with other adoptions, are BSL laws checked in the residing cities of adoptions before an adoption is finalized? Or was the law recently passed in Anna's town/state? As rescuers and adopters, we also need to make sure that we know our laws before any adoption, to ensure a lifetime home for that animal.
BSL literally makes me sick to my stomach, and I cannot believe that this canine "racism" is allowed today. Devastating.
    xxxoooo Wonder dog.

    ReplyDelete
  71. That's terrible! Just because of her breed! Things like the BLS are so stupid! Its never been the breeds fault and it never will be. They can't tell people, even terrible people where they can and can't live but they can breed discriminate all over the place! I'd like to tell them they can't live somewhere were they're happy because of something like the BLS. As someone once said 'Ignorance is not bliss, ignorance is stupid.'

    ReplyDelete
  72. BSL BLS either wayy they suck

    ReplyDelete
  73. Laws are always checked prior to adoption, but a new law can pass at any time. That was the case here.

    ReplyDelete
  74. What city did she live in?? A copy of this blog - including pictures - needs to be sent to EACH AND EVERY member of the council that voted to put BSL into play. In addition, this needs to appear in the local paper. I know you have your hands full. You get me the city name, and I'll do the rest. Seriously. SOMEONE PLEASE GET ME THAT INFO! (Also, Ashley, if you have further info on Wonder's background before you got her, that would be great. Thanks!)

  77. Oh how devastating and unfair. Poor Wonder, poor Anna. :( I hope they will still be able to see each other... Can Anna come visit her? So sad, so wrong. :(

  78. I don't see anything that points to Mississippi (possibly because it is so new and hasn't been updated yet), but the Wikipedia page related to Breed Specific Litigation details many other parts of the country that have these laws in place. It also helps to explain why combating these laws is such a challenge for dog owners and dog organization. It is definitely an educational read.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breed-specific_legislation

I do not agree with BSL and do hope that ways to fight this type of litigation is found. Knowledge is power when dealing with this type of ignorance and Kiki's comment about getting the community and media involved are proactive first steps. No rational person can look at the pictures and video of Wonder and say that they are better off with her outside of their county boarders.

How deeply tragic for Wonder and Anna. My tears and heart go out to them. Taking my furbaby away would tear and irreparable hole in my heart and soul, as I image it has done to them. Prayers that this type of litigation is stopped and can one day be reversed.

  81. Terrible terrible BS(L)!!! I teared up at the story.. Beautiful girl, doesnt deserve this.

  82. Such a sad, then happy, then heartbreaking story..... Bsl suck and we must fight them!! As all of us know, each dog is an individual and just as we cannot say all of one human group are good or bad, same goes for dogs!!

  83. Which town is the BSL in??? Let's fight to end it, send them this story. I would like to help end BSL in the town that booted Wonder.

    How can we help?

  84. Was Wonder from the Gaston Shelter in Dallas, NC? I have fostered dogs from there. What a tragic story. Do you happen to have a list of states or cities with current BSL? What exactly was it that caused Wonder to have to leave her home? I have a staffy and we intend to move around for the next several years. I wont go anywhere that he cant be.

  85. Ashley, I was just wondering if anyone had been able to adopt Wonder as of now. This is one story that I just can't ever get out of my mind. I find my self thinking about this dog every day and I never even met her before.

  97. I write a leave a response when I like a article on a website or if I have something to contribute to the conversation.
It's a result of the fire displayed in the post I looked at. And on this article "Stealing Wonder's
Wonder". I was excited enough to leave a thought ;) I do have 2 questions for you if it's okay. Is it simply me or do a few of these responses come across like they are written by brain dead individuals? :-P And, if you are posting at additional sites, I would like to follow you. Would you list the complete urls of your shared sites like your linkedin profile, Facebook page or twitter feed?

a large amount of work? I'm completely new to operating a blog however I do write in my journal every day. I'd like
to start a blog so I will be able to share my personal experience and thoughts online.
